Arab-International Health and Hospitalization Conference Apr 28, 2001
Under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic, Mr. Emile Lahoud, the Ninth Arab International Health and Hospitalization Conference and international fair "Millennium 2001" for medical equipment and pharmaceutical services were inaugurated at the Unesco Palace.

On Friday 20 April, a panel of speakers comprising medical doctors and specialists in tourism industry were asked to talk about health tourism in Lebanon. The panel was chaired by His Excellency the Cypriote Minister of Health, Mr. Fricsos A Svidis and a representative of His Excellency the Minister of Tourism, Mr. Karam Karam. The session was chaired by Member of Parliament Neemtallah Abi Nasr, representing the parliamentary commission of tourism in Lebanon. MD Bernard Gerbaka, Mr. Serge Nader and Mr. Bassam Nakad who represents Travel Scape 360, were among speakers of honor.

The presentation of Mr. Nakad about alternative medicine gave rise to an interesting debate. While promoting the views of 360 Travel Scape specialized in health tourism, he tackled some typical therapies available in similar foreign and western resorts. He stressed the importance of introducing such activities to Lebanon, especially that these kinds of therapy benefit from the advantages of the Mediterranean Sea.

Moreover, Mr. Nakad delivered an innovative and exhaustive representation about Lebanon, entitled "Spring Comprehensive Offers". This program aims at providing comprehensive health tourism offers, by residing for short periods in two or three countries, including Lebanon as a beneficial destination to various therapies. It is noteworthy that these therapies aim at disease prevention and relaxation.

Mr. Nakad quoted His Excellency Minister Karam Karam who said that our role consists of building bridges and not frontiers for tourism among countries.
THE CZECH AMBASSADOR INFORMED ABOUT THE 
ECONOMIC REFORM PLAN

His Excellency Bassel Fleihane, Minister of Economy and Trade and Her Excellency Mrs. Eva Filipi, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Lebanon, discussed yesterday in the presence of a delegation of Czech journalists, Lebanon's current situation and the efforts of the Lebanese government to implement the economic reform plan.
According to the Czech Ambassador, the visit aims at informing the Czech delegation of Lebanon's situation, so they can talk about it in the Czech media.
Mrs. Viviane Boulos-Tolan, manager of " Platinum International " stated that the visit aims at promoting tourism and friendship between Lebanon and the Czech Republic, knowing that the company employs approximately 300 people in the two countries.
